Rumble on the River June 30th 2006
As June 29th approached, anticipation for the 2006 Rumble on the River Series opener was high.
After the huge success of the 2005 Rumble on the River Series along with another great year at the Friday Night Fights NYC Series, attendance was expected to be high for this year’s opener.
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. The June 29th event was pushed back 1 day as torrential rains pounded the pier minutes before the first match was to begin. The following day, all of the usual suspects returned to give it another try however……this time the weather waited long enough for us to get 3 matches off.
As the boxers from the fourth match entered the ring the bout was called to halt as the rains returned. While the fans and the boxers that were unable to compete were disappointed, everyone was eager for the next Rumble on the River scheduled for July 27th (rain date July 28th).
