The Big Show: All Star Card
The May 8th installment of the Friday Night Fights has plenty of bite to go with the bark. Many Muay Thai fans considered the May 8th event a defining moment for Muay Thai in NYC. Showcasing many of the top professionals in the region this event was an incredible display of talent. Philadelphia was well represented with 6 fighters on the card! (5 Muay Thai and 1 boxers).
A near capacity crowd filled the seats and spaces in between, sticking around to watch the main event: Chris "Mr. Classic" Romulo had his best performance in years against the game and crafty Andrew Zerger. Zerger's experience was clear however Romulo's performance was an incredible balance of skill and aggression. Romulo's measured approach picked the veteran apart over the course of the first 5 round decision that Romulo had in 3 years.
Additional bouts worth mentioning include Angel Garcia vs Omar Douglas, Sampieri vs Yelle, Greskiewicz vs Ibrahim and the best fight of the night - Osvaldo Dominguez vs Liam Tarrant. Dominguez and Tarrant slugged it out for three rounds. Tarrant, an FNF fan favorite didn't have long to savor his recent win over Fisher but put on a great fight though losing a close decision to Dominguez.
The "Polish Punisher", Chris Kwiatkowski made short work of Dino Lopez with his second first round knock out of 2009.
The big guns roared at the armory once again!
